Hairspray, ‘Pleasantly Plump’ teenager Tracy Turnblad achieves her dream of becoming a regular on the Corny Collins Dance Show. I saw it when it first came out, I've seen it several times since, and my last viewing was just a few weeks ago. It never seems flat or old.
It takes a look at an issue that doesn't necessarily seem to be a goldmine of laughs (racial difficulties in the early '60s) and turns it into just that without robbing it of any dignity or sense of importance. John Waters seems to have pulled out all the stops to insure this outcome, and it really paid off.
The "pleasingly plump" pre-talk show Ricki Lake turns in a great performance in a role that's an inspiration to "chunky" girls everywhere.
As always, Waters picks cameo and supporting actors that are dead-on perfect. His own turn as a psychologist is an absolute scream! Brimming with hysterical lines and set-ups, this is a comedy you need to see, if you haven't already.

DVD is utter crap

DVD is utter crap,it's not genuine and it is a burnt copy with poor quality. I got burnt purchasing this. Buyer beware this shop is questionable

Unholy trinity

Three stars for the movie only. In spite of having leading actors, I was quite
disappointed with the overall movie. Good western movies are quite a
rarity nowadays.
As for the service, Mr. Brady has always delivered and is a pleasure to talk to.

An Oldie but a goody

An Oldie but a goody. Love Robert Duval in any movie. Thought I had seen every movie he was in. This movie is excellent.

Only English speaking version that seems to be available, so better then nothing.

Download was only of a portion so useless

Terrible...only about 2/3 of the movie was there.I complained snd got zero response...I would like a refund.

A highly entertaining B-movie!

It may be considered a B-movie, but I found this film to be highly entertaining. The practical effects were great, and the performances by Ally Sheedy and Lance Henriksen were superb!
