Acceptable quality for the time. Enjoyed the show. It would be good if there was a contents on the cover of each series as the episodes are not in order on the discs.

The dvd's arrived in decent time. I was so excited to get them but when I went to play them they didn't work on my dvd player. I am looking into buying another dvd player in the hopes that they'll work. I was really disappointed.
I love this movie my mum got his movie on VHS so I wanted to get it on DVD

You have a wide range of interesting DVDs that I have been looking for and failed to find anywhere else
The movie was just as I remembered it. The only issue was with the first cd which would go blank every once in awhile though each time it was only for a couple of seconds so it didn't bother me that much. The second cd had no issues.
The transfer copy job is excellent based on the source copy now not really available. No real compression artefacts which is helped by the film being in B&W and a running length under 90 minutes
So any compression just to have the movie fit on the disc is extremely minor.
As to the film, it's a solid little western. Joel McCrea is one of those actors who look as if they give nothing to their performance but in fact give much (not unlike Gary Cooper and Clint Eastwood early in their careers). He certainly adds gravitas and the support players don't lack for anything in their performance.
Not a John Ford or Raoul Walsh by any degree but good solid matinee entertainment to while away those late afternoons.

Hello! The problem was the audio. you were kind enough to try sending it again, but it was very low quality and no subtitles, thus the 1-star review. When I said that the quality was too low to really watch the film, I requested a refund. I got no further response and that's where the communication stopped. That's the disappointing truth.

Unfortunately, my dad died shortly before this film came out or it would have been his favorite film. Raised in a poor sharecropper’s family in Clay County, Kentucky, during the Depression, he and his brothers drove souped-up “tankers” running moon throughout Ky, Tenn and Virginia before and after they served in combat in WW2 and Korea. From their description of those rowdy days, THUNDER ROAD is as brutally accurate as can be. Not only were the dreaded T-Men a major hazard, with their brutal tactics, but the various families that cooked the “moon” and distributed it often had blood feuds that were resurrected or exacerbated by their competition for the illegal whisky business. The longest running feud in US history, the century-long White-Baker Feud (also called the Clay County Wars) was resurrected due to the two clans’ competition in tanking the moon throughout Appalachia.
Inherently a sad but realistic work, Mitchum’s excellent performance and an honest, understated script give us a snapshot of an American way of life that few outside of the rural South could ever comprehend. The culture of individualism and freedom from Federal oppression is much less today, but still exists. I believe the reason this film is such a huge cult film in the South is that it reminds us that not too long ago many of our ancestors were still willing to take on the tyrant face to face. We are, alas, just a pale copy of those who went before.
Truly one of the most under-appreciated films of the 50s, due in no small part to the overwhelmingly Yankee composition of the critics’ circles. They couldn’t possibly understand the film. It’s a Southern thing.
