The Rescue of Flight 771  Jay is ordered to fly Cessna flight 30771 from the States to Sydney, with stopovers at Honolulu, Pago Pago and Norfolk Island. He’s joined by Frank, who flies another Cessna. Frank crashes while taking off at Pago Pago, so Jay has to find Norfolk Island on his own. He gets lost and almost runs out of fuel. He contacts Gordon Vette by accident, the pilot of the ANZ 308, a plane with 88 passengers on board. He and his crew are the only ones who can save Jay. But to save him, they first have to find him…

Unusual “plane” story that’s nicely suspenseful …

The fact that the movie is about a little known real-life aviation event in 1978 got me to start watching the movie. What held my interest was the suspense of finding out the fate of “the lost pilot”. Scott Bakula was great in this role because he easily came across as a likable fellow who you want to root for.

Basically, the story recounts a 1978 incident near Australia in which a commercial jetliner went looking for a single occupant plane that was lost over the ocean. The small plane was still flying, but had lost navigational capability and was also running out of fuel. The pilot was planning to ditch into the sea … and no one knew where he was.

The creative techniques that the captain of the commercial jetliner used to try and find the plane were impressive. They are also based on what actually happened – so this was pretty cool to watch. The captain’s further efforts to convince the passengers to allow the search were interesting as well. The story was quite unusual as far as “plane” movies go, so this was a treat.

This movie is a pretty good story that just about everyone is likely to enjoy; I recommend checking it out. (If you’re a plane enthusiast, definitely catch this one!)

Item received was not as described

Item received was not 'starring Helen Hayes' despite her picture being on the DVD, it was actually the version with Joan Hickson. I raised a complaint one week ago but still heard nothing in reply. Very poor customer service.

i purchased this from you several months ago

i purchased this from you several months ago. Unfortunately I never saved it . i owned the dvd that i purchased about 20 years ago.and when my computer crashed lost it a second time. Anyone who buys a movie three times likes it. What you sold me is near DVD quality. Your competition sells it for three times what you charged because once again it's out of print. To boot when the charge three times the price the qualitty is poor. I OWN 10,000videos that took 40 years to acquire making purchases all over the world. I say this to emphasize that you are the only quality shop doing what you do so customers can have confidence when they buy from you. The only problem dealing with you is your supply is limited otherwise I would be our best customer. For the record this is a fact based story with fictionalized characters.

I have used the Rare & Collectables for a few year and find no problem with them. I mainly go for downloads instead of buying the movie.
