Great film. - Sadly the DVD offered no subtitles, which makes it very difficult to understand all those scenes in the Russian sub under command of Captain Briannow (played by Rutger Hauer) in which the submarine sailors are fightiing to extinguish the fire that broke out and the nuclear reactor which threatens to undergo a melt-down, because in all these scenes they are wearing oxygen masks and are talking through those masks covering their faces and of course also their mouths, so the sounds are mufffled and their sentences are difficult to make out. Some English subtitles would have been nice. Nonetheless it's a great film about a true story about events which almost led to World War Three! - And the exteremination of the Eastern seaboard of the US. It happened in October 1986 shortly before the peace talks between Reagan and Gorbatchov in Reykjavik on Oct 11th. 1986. Had the fire on the Russian sub not been extinguished and had the reactor melt-down not been stoppend, then ca. 200 kilotons of nuclear bombs - one thousand times stronger than the Hiroshima bomb Aug. 1945 - would have exploded. That would have been the end of our world as we know it. - By the way, the film shows a lot of similarities to the famous film The Hunt for Red October, which had been made about 7 or 8 years earlier. TV movie of the Enola Gay and crew. I watched it back 1980. The DVD version was good for a DVD of that vintage.

The dvd's arrived in decent time. I was so excited to get them but when I went to play them they didn't work on my dvd player. I am looking into buying another dvd player in the hopes that they'll work. I was really disappointed.

You have a wide range of interesting DVDs that I have been looking for and failed to find anywhere else
The movie was just as I remembered it. The only issue was with the first cd which would go blank every once in awhile though each time it was only for a couple of seconds so it didn't bother me that much. The second cd had no issues.
The transfer copy job is excellent based on the source copy now not really available. No real compression artefacts which is helped by the film being in B&W and a running length under 90 minutes
So any compression just to have the movie fit on the disc is extremely minor.
As to the film, it's a solid little western. Joel McCrea is one of those actors who look as if they give nothing to their performance but in fact give much (not unlike Gary Cooper and Clint Eastwood early in their careers). He certainly adds gravitas and the support players don't lack for anything in their performance.
Not a John Ford or Raoul Walsh by any degree but good solid matinee entertainment to while away those late afternoons.

Hello! The problem was the audio. you were kind enough to try sending it again, but it was very low quality and no subtitles, thus the 1-star review. When I said that the quality was too low to really watch the film, I requested a refund. I got no further response and that's where the communication stopped. That's the disappointing truth.

A typical Randolph Scott film, but not a major effort
“Ten Wanted Men” probably would not make a list of must see films, for the simple reason that it was released during the 50’s as a movie bound for the Saturday afternoon double feature bill at the local movie house. The viewer will recognize a lot of Grade-B western movie actors, and this does give a bit of nostalgia to the film.
Scott plays the rancher in the valley with most of the power and influence, while Richard Boone plays an up-and-comer who has designs to crowd in on Scott’s area. Assisting Boone in this plan are veteran western heavies Leo Gordon and Lee Van Cleef and Dennis Weaver playing the sheriff before his “Gunsmoke” days. As indicated, it is a simple tale of the good guy against the bad guy, with a fistic brawl between Scott and Gordon settling the issue. A good film for the western fans.

Come on, guys, this a classic action western of high calibre. Its got a great plot that builds up to a satisfying climax. Its a kind of film that lets go and wants you to enjoy yourself. The Budd Boectcher westerns are great, but that can be a bit talky and long drawn out. But Ten wanted men is has solid acting, writing and I have seen a plenty of times and will do so. Randolph Scott, as ever, is dependable and solid which parries nicely with Boone’s brooding persona. The scenery is superb and i liked the beginning of the film where Alfonsa Bedoya kidnaps Skip Homier and his father and you are fooled into thinking that the action will soon start. granted the film takes time to let loose but, boy, when it does its like a firecracker. A must see film! Forget
